World Meteorological Organization (WMO) 1 in his recent findings predicted annual average global temperature temporarily reaching 1.5°C above in upcoming 5 years. This is not just the increase in global temperature, we should prepare for more tropical cyclones in future.

What is Average Global Temperature?
There is a difference between our local area temperature and Global Temperature. It is always difficult to predict the local temperature due to many reason i.e. wind pattern, precipitation, day & night temperature difference etc. But Global Temperature 2 depends on how much energy the planet receives from the Sun and how much it radiates back into space.
Climate change is directly concerned with our atmosphere. If concentration of green-houses gases increases in the atmosphere, it will cause rise in the temperature because it will reduce the amount of solar heat back into the space. Concentration of carbon can be perfect to understand the concept well.
Amount of carbon in our atmosphere is very less as compared to oxygen & nitrogen. But slight decreased in carbon can lead us to an ice age and slight rise in carbon concentration can cause melting of ice and high temperature.
Pre-Industrial Climate Level
World Meteorological Organization predict the rise in temperature in reference of pre-industrial climate level 3. But how will we understand this term?
This can be understood as a reference point. There are differences of opinion on the reference point. What we consider the most ideal global temperature without any massive alteration in its behavior?
Most scientists consider to choose the time before industrial revolution. Hence the most accepted baseline is from 1720-1800 AD.
Green House Gases?
In an easy term, these gases love trapping heat. They allow sunlight to pass through but trap the heat that the sunlight brings. Suppose they do not exist, then this planet will be full of ice. Hence these gases are good for life on planet earth.
Example: Methane, Ozone, CFCs etc
Tropical Cyclones Relation with Climate Change?
We should understand the warm temperature in the ocean causes hurricanes and winds. High wind speed means more warm oceans. It is predicted that there will be five percent increase in maximum cyclonic wind speeds if the world warmed by two degree Celsius by 2100 4.
It will easy to understand the cause of hurricanes. Hurricanes formed above the warm water of ocean. When warm water rises above, it is replaced by the cooler air. Cooler air after getting warm, also starts to rise. This forms the storm clouds 5.
Recently Indian subcontinent witnessed two catastrophic cyclones in which ‘Yaas’ was a tropical cyclone like Amphan. There was a huge loss of life and infrastructure due to these cyclones 6.

World needs to follow the Paris Accord on Climate Change and they should work hard to reduce the green house emission. The amount they earn by their industries can be destroyed by the cyclones in future.
What is Paris Accord on Climate?
Paris Accord on climate is to limit global warming to well below 2, preferably to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels 8.
