COVID 19 Or Psychological Trauma – Who is actual Killer?

A person dies due to disease & a person dies due to lack of oxygen – both are completely different things. This is hard to digest for many Indian that people are dying due to fire in ICU of COVID ward and lack of oxygen in various hospitals all across the country. COVID 19 Or Psychological Trauma – Who is actual Killer?

COVID 19 has turned into a psychological warfare like Blue Whale. There is so much fear among people comparing to the actual understanding about this disease. COVID 19 is not a new things for Indian. Previous year also, people often said, “This disease is as trustworthy as Chinese products.”.

Data is proving that mortality rate in India due to COVID 19 in 2020-21 was less than 2%. But in 2021, does the new mutant of COVID 19 changed the perception? India has successfully developed vaccines for this disease but irrespective of this fact, figures of death is hauting.

Total cases of 20.3 Million are reported in the country with death of 222 K people. This makes the mortality rate 1.09%. While worldwide 153 Million cases are reported with death of 3.2 Million people. This makes the mortality rate of 2.09%.

Report as on 03.05.2021

If we closely analyze the data, we can find that mortality rate in India is better in comparison to other developed countries. Indeed second wave of pandemic took many lives in some states but overall mortality rate is still not above 2% as per reports.

Why Psychological Trauma?

Media reports & Twitter hashtags on COVID 19 changed the entire situation in India. It was new for this country where people float towards hospitals for cough and sneeze. In rural India, people did not care about cough and cold during transitional seasons. They took it casually & often recovered within 7 days by their own methods.

But media reports built a perception that this virus is deadly and affecting the respiratory tract badly. Suddenly news spread that people died due to unavailability of oxygen in hospitals. It was established that oxygen is badly needed for COVID patients & suddenly we found people floating for oxygen cylinder here and there.

In the meantime, there were reports that 16 COVID patients died after a fire broke out at Bharuch Welfare Hospital in Gujarat. In another news, 13 people died after a fire broke out in the intensive care unit of an Indian hospital treating Covid patients near Mumbai.

Suddenly whole social media was filled with pictures of burning pyres, crying people in absence of medical facility, non-availability of beds in Hospitals, Black-marketing of necessary medicines or instruments & stocking of oxygen and life saving drugs.

Then news erupted that Adar Punawala left the country after life threats. He is the CEO of Serum Institute of India, forefront company in manufacturing Covishield vaccine [COVID vaccine]. Reports were coming about acute shortage of vaccine in India.

There are also reports in which it was claimed that many people died after their COVID vaccination. This created hysteria among people towards vaccination drive in the country.

An ordinary human being after reading such reports cannot prevent himself from being scared and depressed. Mortality rate is indeed high in some states but recovery rate is also positive all across the country. People are looking at the worse side than the positive aspect.

There is a fear mongering everywhere and due to anxiety & fear, people are floating towards hospitals making the whole system over-burdened and exhausted. It is evident in medical science that anxiety is also a killer. In medical science, a term Neuroticism is used to define the stress. It is a tendency for quick arousal when stimulated.

Neuroticism is related to high level of cortisol in the body and too much cortisol in the body can reduce the immune system and cause heart problems. Stress can also reduce our life expectancy.

It is a matter of research whether death in India is completely due to pandemic or with any other problem like anxiety, heart failure or stress. In India, it is quite often for people catching cough and viral disease during summer to winter & winter to summer transition. People with old age were always prone to such infections and even today, old age people are protected from excessive transitional weather.

In April and May, India witness harvesting also. Environment has too much of agricultural dust and minute crop particles. These particles often caused infection to person with less immunity. Such viral infection is now in the form of COVID.

This virus may be powerful and affecting the respiratory tract of human body & it may be dangerous for people with respiratory disorders and less immunity. But it is curable too. People and even old age people were recovered in Home Isolation.

It is necessary not to fall in the trap of scare mongers. We should follow the guidelines issued by the government. Unnecessary panic and stress can make this disease more dangerous. It is hard to say but those who did black marketing and stocking of essential medicines and oxygen are the killer of humanity and they must pay the price for their deeds.

Lots of other countries are helping India by providing them oxygen and medicine whereas we, ourselves, are giving medicine worth 400/- into 50000/- [Remdesivir]. Oxygen concentrator that is worth 30000/- to 40000/- is unavailable even at 100000/-.

Antibiotics and other medicines are out of stock in some part of the country. This is an unnecessary and unethical practice by people. This will only increase the panic among citizen of this country. Psychological Trauma is also killing us.
