Government of India launches various scheme time to time for rural India. This is another scheme called Svamitva launched by Honorable Prime Minister of India on the occasion of National Panchayat Day 24th April 2020.
What is SVAMITVA Scheme?
SVAMITVA stands for Survey of Village Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Area. Its aims is to survey of inhabited areas of villages using progressive technology to provide an integrated solution for property validation in rural India.
Intention of this scheme is also to provide the ‘record of rights’ to village household owners so that they can use their houses as financial assets to take loans and other financial benefits from Banks.
Who is responsible to Implement this Scheme?
Ministry of Panchayati Raj is the nodal ministry to implement Svamitva. But in the state, the Revenue Department/Land Records Department is the nodal department that will carry out the scheme.
Objective of the Scheme
According to Svamitva, these are the major objective of this scheme.
- Financial stability to the citizens in rural India by enabling them to use their property as a financial asset.
- Creation of accurate land records.
- Determination of Property Tax.
- GIS Mapping and Creation of Survey Infrastructure.
