There are many awards given for literature across the globe. But Man Booker Prize, Pulitzer Award, Nobel Prize are some of the prestigious awards for literature.

1. God of Small Things

One of the Man Booker Award Winning Books in 1997 by Arundhati Roy. She was always a controversial author but her voice is so true to be appreciated globally.

Based At Kerala, The book revealed relationship, Caste Identity in India, Communist Politics and lots more. This novel is basically the portrayal of Interpersonal relationship within the family.

2. In a Free State

This is one of the Award Winning Books written by V.S. Naipaul. This book was published in 1971 and won the Man Booker Prize that year.

3. Midnight Children

5. Inheritance of Loss

A great author Kiran Desai and Inheritance of Loss is her second Novel.

This book also won National Book Critics Circle Fiction Award in 2007. It also won Vodafone Crossword Book Award in 2006.

Inheritance is to gain something but Inheritance of Loss is something unwanted thing. This book revolves around the theme of cultural identity in post-colonial world.

6. Interpreter of Maladies

This is one of most successful award wining books from Indian Origin American Author Jhumpa Lahiri.

This book was published in 1999 and it won Pulitzer Award for Fiction in 2000. It also won Hemingway Foundation/PEN award in 2000.

This is the collection of 9 short stories. It describes social and Emotional attitude of a person.

This is indeed a worth reading to know an ordinary life as an interpreter of the theme by own.

7. Gitanjali

Rabindra Nath Tagore, The most respected genius of India. The author of Indian National Anthem and the winner of Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913.

Originally it was written in Bengali but translated in many languages. It is the collection of beautiful poetry in praise of almighty lord.
